Joining Cowethas Peran Sans

Membership is open to baptised Christians in good standing in their local community who supports our aims:

To understand and embody the spirituality of the Celtic Saints
To share this spirituality with others
To use Cornwall’s ancient Christian holy places again in worship
To promote Cornwall as a place of Christian spiritual pilgrimage
To promote use of the Cornish language in prayer and worship

Being a member of Cowethas Peran Sans means more than just joining the mailing list of an interest group. Members are expected to attend our four core meetings a year and our annual conference in December. Further, members are encouraged to deepen their expression of faith and membership by adopting a personal rule of life based on the Christian values described in The Way.

If you are interested in becoming a member, click button to email -

If you support our aims but are unable to commit yourself to attending all core meetings because of commitments or not living in Cornwall, we hope you will still choose to be a friend. Friends of Cowethas Peran Sans receive regular mailings and can freely attend meetings; however, they cannot attend the conference or to be a member of the guiding Cresen Cowethas (Fellowship Centre).

We will only know when we have truly rediscovered Cornwall’s lost Celtic Christian spirituality if we know in our hearts that we have done so, if we experience inwardly its authenticity and validity through lives and faith renewed, when others can see its relevance for today in the way we live those lives. Then we will know that we did not launch our coracles in vain.

Until then, each of us in Cowethas Peran Sans can but pray to God for a fair wind and humbly ask in the words of a Cornish saint whose faith we seek to rediscover:

Arluth, a wrug mor ha tyr, pub uer oll re’m weressa, Lord, who made land and sea, always be my aid,
Ha roy dhym y’n fordh a wyr ow bewnans omma gedya. And guide my life here in the way of truth.
Jesu Arluth, orthyf myr, ha’th lel gras dhymmo grontya. Lord Jesus, look on me, and grant me your unfailing grace,
Jesu, pub uer oll ow desyr yw y’n bys ma dha blesya. I seek, Lord Jesus, every hour in this life to please you.

Prayer of St Meriasek
